Dano Weisbord is a special advisor at Morrow Sodali focusing on corporate sustainability strategy. He has created sustainability functions in multiple organizations and has 20 years of experience in strategic leadership and advising on corporate sustainability strategy. He has conducted strategic reviews and consulted across higher education, energy, international NGO, mining and real-estate sectors.
He currently serves as the Associate Vice-President for Sustainability at Smith College where he created the sustainability function and now oversees both institutional strategy and the Center for the Environment, Ecological Design and Sustainability. This center links real-world problems to research and curriculum. Dano is also responsible for large-scale planning projects at Smith including the electrification and decarbonization of a thermal and electric district energy system.
Dano is a regular speaker and trainer on sustainability strategy and topics across multiple industry organizations including the International District Energy Association, the Society for College and University Planners and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. He was the Head of Organizational Learning and Change at ActionAid International where he created an organizational sustainability function. During that time, he participated in the development of the environmental components of the INGO Accountability Charter and created an international community of practice for sustainability professionals in NGOs.
Dano advised on corporate environmental responsibility strategy for CLF Ventures in Boston MA where clients included international mining, energy and real-estate companies and organized a regional wind-power industry alliance.
He was a director of the Global Association of Corporate Sustainability Officers in London, and lead author on Sustainable Endowments Institute’s Greening the Bottom Line. He holds a BFA in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MA in Urban and Environmental Policy from Tufts University.
