Sliding doors: rethinking good governance and the role of independent directors

The required set of skills for board/NED roles has become progressively more demanding over the last few years. Similarly, the expectations for diversity on boards, as well as their accountability, have also increased.

Is it feasible to work on other governance-related aspects, such as Board committees' and/or shareholders' competencies and responsibilities, to ensure greater consistency?

Does the role of independent directors need to be differentiated from other directors?

Do the role and the competencies of independent directors need to be redefined?

Should their election process be reviewed?
